South London wins hands down in the Free Fireworks stakes this week with free firework displays being held in Clapham, Streatham, Herne Hill, Southwark and Blackheath.
North Londoners will have to wait until next Saturday (8th) when Alexandra Palace celebrate bonfire night with their annual Fireworks display. This event stretches our guidelines a little, with a suggested donation of £4 for adults and £2 for kids. In our experience this is flexible for those that are skint - although we obviously accept no liability, for anything, ever.
And whilst you're at the Ally Pally then check out Britain's largest German Bier Fest which is happening at the same time as the fireworks. This event is 100% free and features guest beers, Bavarian food and an authentic Oompah Band.
The Class War Bonfire held on London Fields this Wednesday is always a giggle, although some forelock-tugging commoners might feel more at home at the Lord Mayor's Show on Saturday which features yet more fireworks. Who says London hasn't got money to burn.
The Transgender Film Festival has a free event in Brixton on Sunday 9th with a series of films and discussions exploring gender or for more free films this week check out Hackney's Pogo Cafe.
Fans of general discord will be pleased to learn that the South Bank is holding a series of events later in the week featuring the life and works of Stockhausen and you can head to the Brixton Hootannany to soothe those bleeding ears on Saturday, with the band voted Guitar Hero's best live unsigned act - Sketchbeat.
Finally Walthamstow (and Regents Street) are getting into the capitalist festive spirit early and turning on their Christmas Lights on Saturday. Free London Listings will be opening up a Christmas Events category this week so send us all your Christmas events as soon as they are available.
